In 1977, Mr. Rodney Lucia started a manufacturing company of steel products for the building industry on the Dutch Antilles. After more than 20 years of production, the owner saw the necessity to diversify his activities.

In 1999 he started a trading business in hardware and building materials. In 2001 the company had the possibility to buy his neighbor which was an important retailer in households and furniture. When we merged the companies together, Building Depot had the widest range of products for the male and female shopper.

In 2008 the owner Mr. Rodney Lucia handed over his leadership to his new management team which consists of the C.E.O. General Affairs Mr. Peter Luiten and the C.E.O. Commercial Affairs Mr. Roderick Lucia.

 SUCCESFUL GROWTH
The transition from production to retail was very successful and within 10 years the number of employees has grown from 25 to 140.
The store begun with a space of merely 2000m2 and has grown over the years to now 20.000m2.
Building Depot Curacao B.V. is now the major player as the biggest home improvement store on Curaçao.

To maintain his growth, the company decided in 2008 to add extra warehouse space, a showroom for outdoor living and a very modern Drive Thru for building materials to their premises. Pictures from these investments can be found under the header Expansion Store.
